CarScout ("we", "us", or "our") operates getcarscout.ca. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Email address — when you sign up or request a login code.
• Alert preferences — the filters and rules you configure for deal notifications.
• Saved deals — listings you choose to bookmark.
• Usage data — anonymized page view analytics via Umami (no cookies, no personal tracking).

How We Use Your Information

• To send you login codes and authenticate your account.
• To send deal alerts and daily digests based on your preferences.
• To improve the service and fix bugs.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Email Communications

We send emails only when you explicitly opt in — either by requesting a login code or by enabling deal alerts. Every alert email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also disable alerts at any time from your Alert Rules page.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on AWS DynamoDB in the us-east-1 (N. Virginia) region. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Third-Party Services

• Resend — used to deliver transactional emails.
• Umami — privacy-friendly analytics. No cookies. No personal data.
• AWS — cloud infrastructure (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront).

Cookies

CarScout does not use tracking cookies. We use localStorage in your browser to store your theme preference and login session. This data never leaves your device.

Your Rights
